The Chiefs let Walker fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

The board owed the Chiefs one, and it paid up: Deone Walker, the No. 86 name on the board, sitting there at slot 133 like a gift left on the doorstep. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

They are betting Broughton proves the room right and everyone else wrong. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
