Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D
ValueC NeedB- TradesF FutureD-
The phones sank the Chiefs this weekend: D.

Nobody else had R Mason Thomas anywhere near Round 4, Pick 31. The Chiefs did, by 70 spots, and that gap is the whole story. A D that will need time and luck to look better.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Grant at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In No. 5 they get a potential shutdown corner. More want than need.
Pick95 Rnd3 Kyren Lacy
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kyren Lacy well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick110 Rnd4 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick113 Rnd4 Charles Grant
Charles Grant at pick No. 113 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick132 Rnd4 R Mason Thomas
This one needs a full-page explanation: R Mason Thomas in the 132nd pick, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick141 Rnd5 Mitchell Evans
They jumped the gun on Mitchell Evans, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick210 Rnd6 Kai Kroeger
Kai Kroeger at No. 210 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
