Best value of the weekend goes to the Chiefs for Hunter: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Lee Hunter at pick 74 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The bottom line is a respectable B.
If Hurst pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In slot 9 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at fair value.
Pick29
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In the Round 1 slot they get a red-zone target to build around at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick40
Rnd2
Brandon Cisse
Brandon Cisse at the 40th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick74
Rnd3
Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter in pick 74 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick109
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
They paid sticker price for Mike Washington Jr. in pick No. 109, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick148
Rnd5
Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst at the 148th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick176
Rnd5
Zane Durant
Zane Durant at Round 5, Pick 36 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
