Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesC FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Seahawks and Burke: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Denzel Burke tumbling to the Seahawks in No. 175 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

The Ransom pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In slot 18 they get a long-term starter on the line at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
A clean, defensible pick in the 50th overall pick with a little surplus value in Xavier Watts. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick52 Rnd2 Marcus Mbow
No edge and no loss on Marcus Mbow in pick 52; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick82 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo slipping to pick No. 82 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick137 Rnd4 Lathan Ransom
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Lathan Ransom at safety with edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots open.
Pick172 Rnd5 Hollin Pierce
Taking Hollin Pierce in the 172nd pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick175 Rnd5 Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick223 Rnd7 CJ West
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, CJ West in No. 223, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick234 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
