Draft Grade — Bears
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB+
A passer of the future in Williams, and a C+, for the Bears.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.

They will need Barner to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.

Landing Wilson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. It is not that Brade is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

Hit on Caleb Williams and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In No. 2 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick14 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In slot 14 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Adonai Mitchell at pick No. 40 is the proof. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick43 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the safety. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick70 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Haynes at Round 3, Pick 6, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
By-the-book stuff, Cooper Beebe at pick 75 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick101 Rnd4 Roman Wilson
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Roman Wilson in the 101st pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
Fair-plus on Matt Goncalves, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
Jarvis Brownlee Jr. at slot 111 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick112 Rnd4 Beau Brade
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Beau Brade in No. 112 leaves interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots for later.
Pick123 Rnd4 Nelson Ceaser
A slide stopped in pick 123, with Nelson Ceaser worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick143 Rnd5 AJ Barner
They reached a country mile for AJ Barner at the 143rd pick, and the board is aghast. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick211 Rnd6 Daijahn Anthony
They will replay Daijahn Anthony at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
