Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureA+
The Raiders did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B+.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Raiders took Thomas Fidone II a full 111 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

The Gabriel steal is the beam this whole class leans on. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
The board had Nick Emmanwori higher than pick 37, and the safety fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick58 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Taking Omarion Hampton in pick No. 58 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick68 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
By-the-book stuff, Maxwell Hairston at No. 68 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick80 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick97 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Nice patience on Ozzy Trapilo, who had no business lasting to slot 97. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick107 Rnd4 Carson Schwesinger
Steal is underselling it; Carson Schwesinger at Round 4, Pick 6 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick140 Rnd5 Anthony Belton
They robbed the room for Anthony Belton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick144 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
Value said wait; Cobee Bryant in No. 144 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick182 Rnd6 Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams in pick No. 182 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick218 Rnd6 Upton Stout
Upton Stout at the 218th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick224 Rnd7 Dillon Gabriel
Dillon Gabriel in the 224th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick230 Rnd7 Clay Webb
Clay Webb at pick 230 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick246 Rnd7 Thomas Fidone II
Thomas Fidone II at Round 7, Pick 28 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
