Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

TradesA+
FutureA+
The Bears won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-. The Bears torched the value chart for Ben Sinnott, taking him 33 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In No. 10 they get a home-run threat at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick55
Rnd2
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in the 55th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick72
Rnd3
Bucky Irving
Bucky Irving at the 72nd overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick86
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
Somehow Javon Bullard was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier safety value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick99
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
They robbed the room for Payton Wilson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick110
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at slot 110 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick111
Rnd4
Dominick Puni
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Dominick Puni graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick122
Rnd4
Malik Washington
Fair-plus on Malik Washington, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146
Rnd5
Javion Cohen
By-the-book stuff, Javion Cohen at the 146th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick162
Rnd5
Austin Booker
Austin Booker at slot 162 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick165
Rnd5
Nathan Thomas
They jumped the gun on Nathan Thomas, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick206
Rnd6
Jawhar Jordan
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jawhar Jordan. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
