Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Grand theft in the 112th overall pick: the Raiders steal Rice and grade out a B.

The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Brenden Rice, the 112th overall pick, roughly 38 picks past where he belonged.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a blindside protector. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
They will replay Keon Coleman at the Round 2 slot for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick77 Rnd3 Devontez Walker
Devontez Walker in pick 77 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick112 Rnd4 Brenden Rice
They barely believed it either: Brenden Rice still on the board at No. 112. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick150 Rnd5 Johnny Dixon
Taking Johnny Dixon in slot 150 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick190 Rnd6 Jaylin Simpson
Somehow Jaylin Simpson was still sitting there in the 190th overall pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick234 Rnd7 Christian Jones
Christian Jones in pick No. 234 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
