The 49ers let Neal Jr. fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Marcus Neal Jr. tumbling to the 49ers in the 127th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Lee reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Michael Mayer deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
