Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Texans. Nobody had Keilan Robinson this high, and it is not close. The Texans reached 63 spots to get him at the Round 7 slot. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick42
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
They paid up for T.J. Tampa at No. 42 when waiting would have done the job. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick59
Rnd2
Christian Haynes
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Haynes at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick86
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
A tidy little value on Calen Bullock in the 86th pick, a step better than break-even. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick123
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis at the 123rd overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick127
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
They paid sticker price for Johnny Wilson in slot 127, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick188
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
A reach on Curtis Jacobs in Round 6, Pick 13; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
Pick247
Rnd7
Keilan Robinson
A wild overpay on Keilan Robinson in the 247th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
