Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Texans, and a B- to prove it.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Tyler Davis, 34 picks early at the 86th pick. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

Landing Magee that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
They took Cooper Beebe at par in slot 42, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick59 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin at pick 59 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick86 Rnd3 Tyler Davis
A wild overpay on Tyler Davis in the 86th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick123 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at Round 4, Pick 23 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick127 Rnd4 Elijah Jones
A slide stopped in the 127th overall pick, with Elijah Jones worth more than the price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick188 Rnd6 Nathaniel Watson
A real head-scratcher, Nathaniel Watson in No. 188 is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick247 Rnd7 Jordan Magee
Somehow Jordan Magee was still sitting there in No. 247, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
