Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Texans: B-. The tape said wait; the Texans did not. Jared Wilson went at the 79th pick, a good 23 picks before the board was ready.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the defensive front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick58
Rnd2
Cameron Williams
Cameron Williams at pick 58 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick79
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at the 79th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
Pick89
Rnd3
Tai Felton
The board had cheaper options than Tai Felton at Round 3, Pick 25, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick166
Rnd5
DJ Giddens
DJ Giddens in slot 166 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick236
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at the 236th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick241
Rnd7
Marcus Yarns
Marcus Yarns at No. 241 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
