Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Texans: B-.

There is reaching, and then there is Collin Oliver at pick No. 241. The Texans jumped the board by 53 and dared it to prove them wrong.

However the rest shakes out, Pierce at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Tyler Booker
A wild overpay on Tyler Booker in the 17th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
A straight-up fair deal on Jayden Higgins at the 58th pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick79 Rnd3 Cameron Williams
Nice patience on Cameron Williams, who had no business lasting to slot 79. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick166 Rnd5 Hollin Pierce
The board fumbled Hollin Pierce all the way to pick 166, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick193 Rnd6 Jaydon Blue
A quiet steal in No. 193: Jaydon Blue for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick236 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at Round 7, Pick 20 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick241 Rnd7 Collin Oliver
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Collin Oliver well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
