Draft Grade — Texans

FutureB-
The Texans kept it disciplined and banked a B-. The rest of the league had time to spare on KeAndre Lambert-Smith; the Texans did not wait, grabbing him 35 spots ahead at the 166th overall pick. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Getting Sampson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In pick 25 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick58
Rnd2
Cameron Williams
A conviction pick on Cameron Williams at No. 58 that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick79
Rnd3
Charles Grant
The board had cheaper options than Charles Grant at Round 3, Pick 15, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick89
Rnd3
Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at pick No. 89 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick166
Rnd5
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
Value said wait; KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the Round 5 slot says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
