Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-

Good, not great, for the Texans: B-.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Texans spent slot 236 on Collin Oliver, a name the board had a full 54 spots lower. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In No. 25 they get an anchor for the defensive front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in the 58th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick79 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
They paid sticker price for Ozzy Trapilo in slot 79, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick89 Rnd3 Hollin Pierce
They talked themselves into Hollin Pierce at Round 3, Pick 25, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick166 Rnd5 DJ Giddens
By-the-book stuff, DJ Giddens at the 166th pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick236 Rnd7 Collin Oliver
A real head-scratcher, Collin Oliver in pick No. 236 is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick241 Rnd7 Jalen Travis
Jalen Travis at the 241st overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
