Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Garrett Dellinger in No. 236, a good 59 spots before the room expected him. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Getting Williams where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Job largely done: running back settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In No. 25 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick58 Rnd2 Omarr Norman-Lott
They paid a round early for Omarr Norman-Lott in the 58th pick, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick79 Rnd3 Cameron Williams
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 79, where Cameron Williams graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick89 Rnd3 Charles Grant
A straight-up fair deal on Charles Grant at the 89th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick166 Rnd5 DJ Giddens
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on DJ Giddens. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick236 Rnd7 Garrett Dellinger
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Garrett Dellinger well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick241 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Nice patience on Isaac TeSlaa, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 25. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
