Draft Grade — Texans
Overall C
ValueB NeedB TradesD FutureD
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Texans and Dixon: C.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Texans, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C in the wash.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Dixon. Reaching for Bowry left real value on the table behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Hit on Kenyon Sadiq and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
In pick No. 28 they get a security blanket over the middle, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick29 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In No. 29 they get a three-down second-level presence, and a steal at that.
Pick38 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick59 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks at Round 2, Pick 27 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
A quiet steal in the 69th overall pick: Jake Slaughter for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick74 Rnd3 Mike Washington Jr.
Mike Washington Jr. at slot 74 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick106 Rnd4 Jude Bowry
Value said wait; Jude Bowry in the Round 4 slot says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick109 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton
They paid sticker price for Nicholas Singleton in the 109th pick, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick141 Rnd5 Chris McClellan
A straight-up fair deal on Chris McClellan at pick 141, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick167 Rnd5 Eric Rivers
By-the-book stuff, Eric Rivers at the 167th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick243 Rnd7 Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon at pick No. 243 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
