Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Texans this weekend: B.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Texans spent the 165th pick on Trey Zuhn III, a name the board had a full 35 spots lower. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

On value alone, Slaughter makes the weekend a net positive. The Mike McGlinchey pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In the 30th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick38 Rnd2 Christen Miller
They took Christen Miller at par in pick 38, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in the 59th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price at the Round 3 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick106 Rnd4 Bishop Fitzgerald
Bishop Fitzgerald at No. 106 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick128 Rnd4 Mike Washington Jr.
They paid sticker price for Mike Washington Jr. in pick No. 128, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick165 Rnd5 Trey Zuhn III
They reached a country mile for Trey Zuhn III at slot 165, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick243 Rnd7 Haynes King
A reasonable price with a little left over, Haynes King in No. 243. The roster fit checks out.
Pick244 Rnd7 Micah Morris
Micah Morris in pick 244 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
