Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B+
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Texans fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+.

The Texans clearly saw something nobody else did in Tim Keenan III, taking him 47 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Slaughter at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
In the 9th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
Pick53 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
Value with a capital V on Olaivavega Ioane in the 53rd overall pick, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick63 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
The board fumbled Jake Slaughter all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick108 Rnd4 Tim Keenan III
Tim Keenan III at pick 108 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick121 Rnd4 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at No. 121 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick194 Rnd6 Makhi Hughes
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Makhi Hughes well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick237 Rnd7 Daevin Hobbs
A premium they did not need to pay, Daevin Hobbs a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick241 Rnd7 Shamar Easter
They paid sticker price for Shamar Easter in slot 241, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
