Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Texans: B-.

The one they had to fix is still broken. The Texans left edge rusher untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The Singleton reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Kayden McDonald
In No. 28 they get a load in the middle at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
No drama and no debate, Olaivavega Ioane went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price at the 59th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick69 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nicholas Singleton. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick106 Rnd4 Bishop Fitzgerald
No edge and no loss on Bishop Fitzgerald in pick No. 106; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick128 Rnd4 J.C. Davis
Good price on J.C. Davis in the 128th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick177 Rnd5 Bud Clark
They paid sticker price for Bud Clark in slot 177, and that is fine. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick215 Rnd6 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at Round 6, Pick 36 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick243 Rnd7 Haynes King
Haynes King at Round 7, Pick 27 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
Pick244 Rnd7 Rueben Owens II
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Rueben Owens II. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
