JPCards DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars

Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall

FutureB-
Larceny in pick 212 lands the Jaguars a B, Hopper and all. When a board-topper like Ty'Ron Hopper slides to the 212th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Jaguars did not. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In the 17th pick they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
Nothing to complain about; T'Vondre Sweat went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick96
Rnd3
Kris Abrams-Draine
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kris Abrams-Draine in No. 96. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick114
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
They paid sticker price for Sataoa Laumea in pick No. 114, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick116
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
A quiet steal in slot 116: Zak Zinter for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick153
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
Fair-plus on Luke McCaffrey, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick212
Rnd6
Ty'Ron Hopper
They barely believed it either: Ty'Ron Hopper still on the board at Round 6, Pick 37. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick236
Rnd7
Tayvion Robinson
Good price on Tayvion Robinson in the Round 7 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
