Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Broncos cashed the board's mistake on Trotter: B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Broncos watched Josiah Trotter slide 31 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

They are betting Capehart proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 KC Concepcion
In pick 30 they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick62 Rnd2 Max Klare
Nothing to complain about; Max Klare went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick94 Rnd3 Josiah Trotter
The board fumbled Josiah Trotter all the way to slot 94, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick108 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
They talked themselves into DeMonte Capehart at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick130 Rnd4 David Oke
David Oke in No. 130 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick168 Rnd5 Brenen Thompson
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 30, where Brenen Thompson graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
Pick246 Rnd7 Ethan O'Connor
Taking Ethan O'Connor in pick No. 246 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick251 Rnd7 Micah Morris
A reasonable price with a little left over, Micah Morris in the 251st overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick255 Rnd7 Haynes King
Haynes King slipping to the Round 7 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
