Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA+
A franchise passer in Maye headlines a D weekend for the Bears.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Drake Maye is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. Reaching for McLachlan left real value on the table behind him.

The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Drake Maye
By-the-book stuff, Drake Maye at the 3rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick15 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
They took Dallas Turner at par in the 15th pick, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Graham Barton
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Graham Barton. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick46 Rnd2 Devontez Walker
Devontez Walker in No. 46 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick68 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
A conviction pick on Christian Haynes at slot 68 that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
No edge and no loss on Roman Wilson in pick 75; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick81 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
Michael Hall Jr. at the Round 3 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick87 Rnd3 Michael Pratt
Michael Pratt in pick No. 87 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Good price on Khyree Jackson in pick 110, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick124 Rnd4 Jaheim Bell
A reach on Jaheim Bell in Round 4, Pick 24; the board had better options right there. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick127 Rnd4 Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent in the 127th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick146 Rnd5 Grayson Murphy
Grayson Murphy at No. 146 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
A big swing on Jase McClellan at the 186th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick232 Rnd7 Tanner McLachlan
They reached into another round for Tanner McLachlan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
