Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B
ValueA-

FutureB-
The Bears let Fitzgerald fall and pounced. Final grade: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Ryan Fitzgerald had no business being available in Round 7, Pick 24, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In pick No. 12 they get an every-down engine for the run game at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
No drama and no debate, Tyler Booker went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
They barely believed it either: Tyler Warren still on the board at Round 2, Pick 9. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick72
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott at the 72nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick76
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tate Ratledge. The roster fit checks out.
Pick147
Rnd5
Jake Majors
Steal is underselling it; Jake Majors at the 147th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick193
Rnd6
Robert Spears-Jennings
A safety of that caliber at slot 193 is the definition of value, full stop. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick240
Rnd7
Ryan Fitzgerald
They robbed the room for Ryan Fitzgerald here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
