The board owed the Bears one, and it paid up: Malachi Moore, the No. 95 name on the board, sitting there at pick 233 like a gift left on the doorstep.

They are betting Franklin proves the room right and everyone else wrong. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
