A respectable, level-headed haul for the 49ers: B.

The 49ers torched the value chart for Cooper Mays, taking him 60 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They banked enough surplus on Noel to cover a lot of smaller sins. They will answer for taking cornerback early while interior defensive lineman and linebacker went begging. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The veteran additions, Caelen Carson chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
