Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bears for Restrepo: B+.

When a board-topper like Xavier Restrepo slides to No. 244, you do not overthink it, and the Bears did not. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

The Jackson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Wyatt Milum
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jack Sawyer
They let Jack Sawyer come to them and pounced at pick 39. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick45 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Somehow Walter Nolen was still sitting there in the 45th pick, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick46 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in pick No. 46 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jake Majors
Value said wait; Jake Majors in No. 74 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick147 Rnd5 Cam Skattebo
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Cam Skattebo in Round 5, Pick 10, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick197 Rnd6 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in slot 197 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim in the 232nd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick233 Rnd7 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander in No. 233 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick244 Rnd7 Xavier Restrepo
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 244th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
