Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB FutureB
The Bears let Warren fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The board owed the Bears one, and it paid up: Tyler Warren, the No. 17 name on the board, sitting there at pick 39 like a gift left on the doorstep.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Their trades came out a wash either way.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Mykel Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
They barely believed it either: Tyler Warren still on the board at the 39th overall pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick41 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts at pick 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick72 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
They did well to land Quinshon Judkins in slot 72, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick76 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo in No. 76 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick148 Rnd5 Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams at pick No. 148 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick233 Rnd7 Addison West
Somehow Addison West was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 17, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick240 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at the 240th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
