Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB
The Bears let Mullings fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bears were there to profit. Kalel Mullings, the No. 105 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 193. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Reaching for Dellinger left real value on the table behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 James Pearce Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 10 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Value with a capital V on Walter Nolen in pick 39, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick51 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in the 51st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick72 Rnd3 Jake Majors
They reached into another round for Jake Majors, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick117 Rnd4 TreVeyon Henderson
A top-tier running back at a bargain, TreVeyon Henderson in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick120 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Circle this one: Kevin Winston Jr. at the 120th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick147 Rnd5 Mason Taylor
You do not let a tight end like Mason Taylor reach pick No. 147 and blink. They did not. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick193 Rnd6 Kalel Mullings
Steal is underselling it; Kalel Mullings at slot 193 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick233 Rnd7 Garrett Dellinger
Value said wait; Garrett Dellinger in the 233rd pick says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
