Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bears spent the 240th overall pick on Trey Wedig, a name the board had a full 47 spots lower. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Mullings. The phones were where this weekend was really won. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The veteran additions, Caelen Carson chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
