Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Bears found their guy under center in Williams: D-.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

Caleb Williams gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

Williams falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value.
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the 9th pick they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Pick43 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell at slot 43 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick74 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard at pick 74 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jonathon Brooks
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jonathon Brooks. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick110 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
Fair-plus on Blake Fisher, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick127 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine in Round 4, Pick 27 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick146 Rnd5 Jaylan Ford
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylan Ford at No. 146, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick186 Rnd6 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
They did well to land Zion Tupuola-Fetui in the Round 6 slot, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick232 Rnd7 Isaiah Williams
They let Isaiah Williams come to them and pounced at pick No. 232. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
