John DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears

Farmer should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Joshua Farmer had no business being available in Round 5, Pick 10, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Kroeger has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton at the 39th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick41
Rnd2
Wyatt Milum
Good price on Wyatt Milum in No. 41, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick72
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
No edge and no loss on Elijah Arroyo in slot 72; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick148
Rnd5
Joshua Farmer
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Joshua Farmer in pick 148, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick233
Rnd7
R.J. Mickens
A safety of that caliber at pick No. 233 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick240
Rnd7
Kai Kroeger
They reached into another round for Kai Kroeger, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
