Jmango5050 DRAFTING FOR THEBills
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bills checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Bhayshul Tuten at the Round 4 slot, a reach of 21 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Winston Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kenneth Grant at No. 30 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick56
Rnd2
Kyle Kennard
Kyle Kennard at the Round 2 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick62
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at pick No. 62 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick109
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
Value with a capital V on Kevin Winston Jr. in the 109th overall pick, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick132
Rnd4
Bhayshul Tuten
A wild overpay on Bhayshul Tuten in pick 132, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick169
Rnd5
Jack Kiser
They went early on Jack Kiser in Round 5, Pick 31, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick170
Rnd5
Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt in slot 170 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick173
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick 173 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick177
Rnd6
Que Robinson
A reach for Que Robinson in Round 6, Pick 1; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick206
Rnd6
Alijah Huzzie
Alijah Huzzie at the 206th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
