Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Packers: B.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Packers spent slot 202 on Trey Taylor, a name most had 67 spots down the list.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Edwards. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
Good price on Kool-Aid McKinstry in slot 29, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick44 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins at pick No. 44 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick58 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
They took Payton Wilson at par in the 58th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick68 Rnd3 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in the 68th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick77 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at Round 3, Pick 13 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
Pick103 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
The board had cheaper options than Blake Fisher at pick 103, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick113 Rnd4 McKinnley Jackson
They jumped the gun on McKinnley Jackson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick126 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick148 Rnd5 Nelson Ceaser
A conviction pick on Nelson Ceaser at slot 148 that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick169 Rnd5 Mason McCormick
Circle this one: Mason McCormick at the 169th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick202 Rnd6 Trey Taylor
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trey Taylor well ahead of where he belonged. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick219 Rnd6 Daijun Edwards
A running back of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 44 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick245 Rnd7 KT Leveston
KT Leveston at pick 245 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick255 Rnd7 Daijahn Anthony
Daijahn Anthony at the 255th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
