Grand theft in No. 106: the Jaguars steal Jackson and grade out a A. If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Jaguars, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A.
That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Jackson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
The Dee Alford deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Bottom line, with Josh Simmons leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Josh Simmons
In the 15th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick20
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In the 20th pick they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick46
Rnd2
Benjamin Morrison
Benjamin Morrison in Round 2, Pick 14 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick51
Rnd2
Tre Harris
A straight-up fair deal on Tre Harris at pick No. 51, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick70
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
No edge and no loss on Elijah Arroyo in pick 70; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick88
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
They read the board right and Isaiah Bond was the payoff at the 88th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick106
Rnd4
Donovan Jackson
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Donovan Jackson in pick 106, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick125
Rnd4
Lathan Ransom
They barely believed it either: Lathan Ransom still on the board at Round 4, Pick 24. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
