Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureA
The Jaguars did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B+.

The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named safety, a need the Jaguars walked right past. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

They banked enough surplus on Grant to cover a lot of smaller sins. Every board in the league had Wilson lower, and that gap is the story. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Will Johnson
Will Johnson in No. 12 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick36 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
A tidy bit of business in slot 36, where Kenneth Grant graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick70 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
A reach on Ozzy Trapilo in Round 3, Pick 6; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick76 Rnd3 Elic Ayomanor
Elic Ayomanor at the 76th overall pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
They paid a round early for Jared Wilson in pick 88, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick107 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
They paid sticker price for Cam Skattebo in the 107th pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick126 Rnd4 Hollin Pierce
The board had cheaper options than Hollin Pierce at the Round 4 slot, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
