McCarthy is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B-.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Bears' quarterback, full stop.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the McCarthy reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
