FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Jaguars: B-. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Jaguars spent pick No. 89 on Boubacar Traore, a name most had 41 spots down the list. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The Saka pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots.
On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick58
Rnd2
Nyck Harbor
A clean, defensible pick in No. 58 with a little surplus value in Nyck Harbor. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick81
Rnd3
Austin Siereveld
A reach on Austin Siereveld in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick89
Rnd3
Boubacar Traore
They talked themselves into Boubacar Traore at the 89th overall pick, and the board did not agree. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick100
Rnd3
Anto Saka
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 100th pick on Anto Saka with interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
Pick127
Rnd4
Jaishawn Barham
A tidy little value on Jaishawn Barham in slot 127, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick166
Rnd5
Connor Tollison
Connor Tollison in pick No. 166 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick232
Rnd7
Khalil Barnes
By-the-book stuff, Khalil Barnes at No. 232 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick246
Rnd7
Jerry Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Jerry Wilson at the 246th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
