The Panthers bled value on every deal, hence the D. The Panthers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending Round 7, Pick 30 on Caleb Murphy a full 44 spots early. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The Solomon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with linebacker, safety and other spots still on the board. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Landing Jones that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.
