Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
Manning is the plan now, and the Jets grade out a B+.

The Jets spent the pick that matters most on Arch Manning, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.

They will need Lyons to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Hill Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Arch Manning
Nothing to complain about; Arch Manning went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick36 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. at the 36th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick139 Rnd5 Darius Taylor
The board had Darius Taylor higher than pick 139, and the running back fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick182 Rnd6 Khalil Barnes
A tidy bit of business in No. 182, where Khalil Barnes graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick197 Rnd6 Hykeem Williams
Hykeem Williams in slot 197 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick210 Rnd6 Jamari Lyons
Value said wait; Jamari Lyons in pick No. 210 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Pick226 Rnd7 J.C. Davis
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: J.C. Davis for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick251 Rnd7 King Mack
They let King Mack come to them and pounced at Round 7, Pick 35. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick253 Rnd7 Preston Hodge
Preston Hodge in No. 253 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
