Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

FutureB-
The Steelers answered their biggest question with Manning. Grade: B-. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Steelers committed. Arch Manning is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
The Allar pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The cost of the Clark reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Spending an early pick on offensive lineman with edge rusher, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Arch Manning
They went early on Arch Manning in slot 21, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick52
Rnd2
Colton Hood
A reach on Colton Hood in the Round 2 slot; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick76
Rnd3
Cayden Green
Cayden Green at pick 76 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick83
Rnd3
Rod Moore
The board had Rod Moore higher than pick No. 83, and the safety fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick99
Rnd3
Malachi Fields
A slide stopped in the 99th overall pick, with Malachi Fields worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick121
Rnd4
Chris Johnson
Nothing to complain about; Chris Johnson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick133
Rnd4
Logan Jones
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with Logan Jones while clear needs at edge rusher, running back and other spots sat open.
Pick160
Rnd5
Bud Clark
Bud Clark at the 160th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick212
Rnd6
Amare Campbell
Amare Campbell at the Round 6 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick213
Rnd6
Drew Allar
Drew Allar at pick 213 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick235
Rnd7
Bear Alexander
They reached into another round for Bear Alexander, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
