The Commanders found their guy under center in McCarthy: B.

The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development.

The cost of the Spann-Ford reach is exactly the players who went right after him. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Isaac value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
