Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureB
Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Bears' quarterback, full stop.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Getting Thomas where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The Jones reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
No edge and no loss on Caleb Williams in Round 1, Pick 1; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick15 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick48 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
A straight-up fair deal on Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 48, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick77 Rnd3 Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall in the 77th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick96 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
They read the board right and Roman Wilson was the payoff at No. 96. It fills a real need, too.
Pick114 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
No drama and no debate, Darius Robinson went about where he belonged in pick No. 114. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick122 Rnd4 Beau Brade
Beau Brade at the 122nd pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick146 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at pick 146 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick193 Rnd6 Nathan Thomas
Nathan Thomas slid further than he should have, and slot 193 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick234 Rnd7 Matthew Jones
Matthew Jones in pick No. 234 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
