They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Bears' quarterback, full stop.

The McCaffrey value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for McCarthy left real value on the table behind him.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
