Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Lions robbed the room for Loveland. Final grade: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Colston Loveland at the 60th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Reaching for Cross III left real value on the table behind him. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a downhill hitter at safety, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick60 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
They barely believed it either: Colston Loveland still on the board at No. 60. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick111 Rnd4 Tory Horton
No edge and no loss on Tory Horton in the 111th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick130 Rnd4 Jackson Slater
They talked themselves into Jackson Slater at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick146 Rnd5 Tyler Baron
A reach on Tyler Baron in the 146th pick; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick196 Rnd6 Howard Cross III
Value said wait; Howard Cross III in pick No. 196 says they were not listening. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick228 Rnd7 Kyle Monangai
Kyle Monangai at pick 228 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
Pick244 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
A slide stopped in slot 244, with Isaac TeSlaa worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
