Draft Grade — Patriots

FutureB-
The Patriots let Greene III fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Earnest Greene III, the No. 173 name on the board, stolen at No. 207. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They are betting Foster proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots went begging.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the 31st pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot.
Pick63
Rnd2
Monroe Freeling
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Monroe Freeling in No. 63. It fills a real need, too.
Pick95
Rnd3
Daylen Everette
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Daylen Everette. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick125
Rnd4
Harold Perkins Jr.
A want over a need in pick No. 125: Harold Perkins Jr. adds a linebacker while edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick131
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts slipping to the 131st overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick169
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
Taking Domani Jackson in the Round 5 slot is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick189
Rnd6
Bryce Foster
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bryce Foster in slot 189, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick200
Rnd6
Taylen Green
Taylen Green at Round 6, Pick 21 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick207
Rnd6
Earnest Greene III
Somehow Earnest Greene III was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick210
Rnd6
Miles Kitselman
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Miles Kitselman at the 210th overall pick is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick247
Rnd7
London Humphreys
A reasonable price with a little left over, London Humphreys in pick 247. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
