Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall C+
ValueD+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots landed square in the muddy middle: C+.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Patriots started one anyway for Steven Parker, 295 picks ahead of schedule.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Higgins. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at fair value.
Pick38 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
A tidy bit of business in slot 38, where Emeka Egbuka graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick69 Rnd3 Luke Lachey
This one needs a full-page explanation: Luke Lachey in No. 69, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
Pick77 Rnd3 Steven Parker
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Steven Parker. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick106 Rnd4 Ja'Quinden Jackson
A big swing on Ja'Quinden Jackson at Round 4, Pick 4, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick144 Rnd5 Cam Horsley
They reached a country mile for Cam Horsley at the 144th overall pick, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick217 Rnd7 Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick220 Rnd7 Jayden Higgins
Steal is underselling it; Jayden Higgins at slot 220 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick238 Rnd7 Caleb Ransaw
You do not let a safety like Caleb Ransaw reach the 238th overall pick and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
