Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall

FutureB-
Hard to find the plan in the Panthers' weekend. D. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Ty French in slot 114, a good 310 spots before the room expected him.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through offensive lineman. Landing Mukuba that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
RJ Oben
In the 8th pick they get a double-digit-sack hope, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick57
Rnd2
Dayon Hayes
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dayon Hayes in pick 57, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick74
Rnd3
Kobe Hudson
Value said wait; Kobe Hudson in the Round 3 slot says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick111
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
Steal is underselling it; Andrew Mukuba at slot 111 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick114
Rnd4
Ty French
A wild overpay on Ty French in the 114th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick140
Rnd5
Ethan Downs
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ethan Downs well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick146
Rnd5
Alijah Huzzie
They talked themselves into Alijah Huzzie at pick No. 146, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick163
Rnd5
Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan at Round 5, Pick 25 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick230
Rnd7
Khris Bogle
Khris Bogle in the 230th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
