FutureA
A solid, sensible weekend for the Vikings: B-. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jadarian Price, 38 picks early at the Round 3 slot. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Getting Sadiq where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the 24th pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick43
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Kenyon Sadiq in pick 43, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick75
Rnd3
Rod Moore
The board had Rod Moore higher than slot 75, and the safety fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick88
Rnd3
Keith Abney II
A tidy little value on Keith Abney II in the Round 3 slot, a step better than break-even. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price at Round 3, Pick 33 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick161
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
A clean, defensible pick in the 161st overall pick with a little surplus value in DeMonte Capehart. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick197
Rnd6
Evan Stewart
No drama and no debate, Evan Stewart went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick226
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
They liked Trey Zuhn III enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 7, Pick 11. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick230
Rnd7
Smith Snowden
They reached a country mile for Smith Snowden at the 230th pick, and the board is aghast. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick242
Rnd7
Kevin Jennings
Good price on Kevin Jennings in No. 242, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
