Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Bengals cashed the board's mistake on Harden: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Myles Harden had no business being available in the Round 7 slot, and the Bengals did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Suamataia to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
In No. 18 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick49 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
They paid up for Kingsley Suamataia at the 49th pick when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
Pick80 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson at pick No. 80 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick116 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Zak Zinter worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick148 Rnd5 Nehemiah Pritchett
Nehemiah Pritchett in slot 148 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick175 Rnd5 Cody Schrader
Cody Schrader in pick 175 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick196 Rnd6 M.J. Devonshire
M.J. Devonshire at Round 6, Pick 21 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick235 Rnd7 Johnny Dixon
The board fumbled Johnny Dixon all the way to the 235th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick252 Rnd7 Myles Harden
Myles Harden at Round 7, Pick 32 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
